Description

Details

Although greaves were used since antiquity, cuisses and poleyns were very much a development of the medieval period. The development of protection for the upper thighs meant that longer shields, and indeed shields altogether as the body became more encased in plate, became obsolete amongst the knightly classes.

They are fully articulated allowing the leg to be bent and are attached with buckled leather straps for a secure fit. These are so comfortable to wear and move in. I feel little to no restriction in my movement when I’m wearing them. They’re also very elegant looking. Great purchase. (Posted on 12/11/2023)

Excellent for the money had mine 7 years and they have taken an absolute battering. If anything it’s only improved them. Very easy to reshape and resize. The plate on the knee does occasionally lock but if you are of a handy persuasion you can add an extra strap on the bottom of the top plate and this will almost completely fix the issue. I'm 169cm and these legs fit me quite well. You have two holes in the poleyns to adjust how far up they sit from the greaves. The steel is soft so you can easily bend the ankles to accomodate various shoes. I highly recommend padding your legs, or at least your knees to avoid constant scratching, seeing as the armour likely will not fit you 100%.

One disadvantage of the soft steel is that the articulated parts of the knee can pop out. On several occasions I've had the thigh-plate pop up from under the upper knee plate. This can be fixed in a second by just pushing the plate down again with enough force, so it's not much of a problem, but I thought I'd mention it. Another thing to mention; be careful when adjusting the buckle straps. Put too much force on it and it will snap, as it did for me when trying to reach the innermost hole in the strap. Better to punch a few more holes in the strap imo.

Despite these imperfections, I really like this armour. It looks very nice and shapely. (Posted on 17/06/2019)

Great legs, they fit really good on me. the plate is of nice quality steel and the straps are great too. (they could have more holes in them but that's easy as pie to fix yourself)
they arrived REALLY fast and easy, the box was a bit broken but nothing inside was broken, they arrived well oiled (as they should be) overall great product, would recomend. (Posted on 05/10/2018)

By luck these fitted me perfectly, you do have to bend them to fit slightly but that is to be expected when buying most armour of the self, movement is enitlry comfortable and provides great protection. (Posted on 21/10/2017)
