  • Can I buy a sword in the UK?

We are often asked about the UK law in regards to buying and owning a sword or weapon. Do I need a license to buy a sword in the UK? Is it legal to own a sword? Currently, as the items we sell are replicas, you do not need to have a permit for these items. All products sold on our website are legal to buy and own in the UK if you are aged 18 years and over.  Any swords bought must be held in your home, and are not allowed in public without a valid reason. You may carry a sword outside the home, for going to and from an engagement such as using the sword as a prop in a sport, re-enactment or stage combat/acting, as long as it is fully covered. We age check all our customers by verifying they are at least 18 years old...

  • Armed for the Future

Polyurethane Armour for LARP and Cosplay by Red Dragon Let’s face it, when it comes to historical armour, few things offer greater protection than steel. The downsides of weight, inflexibility and the need for constant maintenance to protect against rust are more than offset by the superb protective qualities that it offers. However, in this day and age, unless you are on the re-enactment or SCA battlefield, you simply don’t need this level of protection that steel affords. The 21st century has seen many advances in plastic technology and these materials have now made their debut upon the world of historical armour! To the eye, our range of polyurethane armours are near indistinguishable from their metallic counterparts. They are however much more comfortable to wear and can be worn for long periods of time without discomfort. Indeed, the flexible nature of this armour means that it can bend to the contours...

Introducing the new way to keep your family name alive. We are all familiar with the idea of a family crest, well now you can immortalise your family name in our latest purpose made sword, dedicated to your families legacy. • The Women History Forgot

Throughout history, there has been Queen's and noble women that have ruled alongside men but history rarely tells of the tales of the women warriors who's influence has spanned the decades. These powerful women showed they are just as capable as men when it comes to leading and fighting. Queen Boudica In 43 A.D. the Roman Empire conquered Southern England. As their rule spread, they allowed several tribal kings to keep their land and rule their people. Boudica was married to King Prastugas, the king of the Iceni tribe. As Boudica had two daughters, there was no heir to rule when Prastugas died. On his death, he left the land and the people to Boudica and his daughters. The Romans did not keep their promise after his death and annexed the kingdom of the Iceni tribe. Leaving Boudica and her people beat and homeless, Boudica took it upon herself to take revenge...

  • The Legend Behind The Sword

What makes a sword great is sometimes the story behind it. Whether the story is a legend passed down or recorded history, the story starts with the man who uses the sword. We have selected a few of our swords that have all been wielded by what we consider 'legendary men'. Excalibur King Arthur - Excalibur   We all know the story of King Arthur and his knights of the round table. Literature tells of a great warrior who defended Britain against the Saxons during the 5th and 6th Century, along with his fellowship of knights but there is little physical evidence to support these stories. Depicted by Nennius of Wales in his work History of the Britons, Arthur wins many battles throughout history with the legendary sword, Excalibur. Excalibur is said to be the source of Arthur’s power but once again there are contradicting tales of how Arthur came to...

  • 'Tis The Season For Mead And Merriment

Spice up the Festive Season with our 8 Mead Cocktails Mead is thought to be the oldest alcoholic beverages known to man. The earliest meads were made from local honey, water, and yeast. Honey was among the original sweeteners for wine, even today some mead is made with grapes or other fruit. The ancient Greeks called mead, Ambrosia, or Nectar. It was believed to be the drink of the gods and was thought to descend from the Heavens as dew, before being gathered by the bees. Because of the believed ties to the gods, the Greeks believed that mead would prolong life, and bestow health, strength, virility and re-creative powers. While the great Norse god, Odin, was said to have gained his strength by suckling Mead from a goats’ udder as an infant. In England, there were a number of meads, flavoured with specific herbs that were used to cure...
