During the Norman and Saxon periods men of all classes wore tunics. The sleeve and garment were cut as one piece using only one seam. The front was open a few inches and adorned with trim as well as the hem and sleeves.

The axe is one of man's oldest implements. Axes of stone, bronze, iron and finally steel were used as both a tool and a weapon. During the Crusades particularly, the axe was a favourite weapon. Richard the Lionheart favoured it, as did many men-at-arms, knights and peasants. Except for the large Danish axe, the full-fledged battle axe had yet to appear. Most axes were used both to hew the limbs of trees as well as the limbs of men.

This axe is replicated from a photo of an old axe that was dated to about 1150, but no information was given as to source or location. Blade is tempered high carbon steel with hardwood shaft.

It was the most popular garment of the Middle Ages. From the fall of Rome to the Renaissance, everyone wore a tunic in one of its many variations. Medieval tunics were robust enough to wear while labouring away on the farm or in the fields and could be combined with other garb so successfully that everyone wanted to wear them.

Our Gurkha Regimental Kukri is manufactured by Windless Steelcrafts. It is produced to official government specifications on size, form and weight. It comes from the forge that began making weapons for the British Army in 1943. This variant has a straight, narrow fuller from the grip to the curve of the black, and a very wide, flat notch ("angkhola") behind it. The blade was forged by hand from carbon steel, and has typical cut outs that symbolize the goddess Shiva's trident. It has a full tang, which is riveted to the brass pommel end.

This Gurkha kukri includes a wooden scabbard covered with black buffalo leather and a brass chape. At the back, there are two pockets for the smaller accompanying knives, the karda and chakmak. The holder for the belt loop is removable as required.
