The Knight Shop is a distributor for Windlass Steelcrafts and the premier retailer of Windlass Swords for sale in the UK.

Windlass Swords (Windlass Steelcrafts), are based in India and are one of the oldest sword manufacturers still in production.  They were established in 1943 to supply kukris to the British Army.

Over the decades they have expanded to become one of the largest suppliers of military swords in the world. They are also well known for making high quality licensed replicas of swords, armour and historical clothing seen in Hollywood movies.

Their swords are forged from high quality, high carbon steel and tempered with the most advanced heat treating process available. They are flexible, well balanced and lightweight making them ideal for practicing historical swordplay techniques.

Windlass Swords are durable and are either of threaded or peened construction with the tang forged as part of the blade. They are blunt and have a 1mm edge although sharpening service is available on these swords.

  • Jambiya Curved Dagger

A jambiya is the traditional curved dagger that you find wherever the Arabic culture flourishes. It represents a status symbol for the man wearing it, and is most often worn on a belt. Status aside, thanks to its elegantly curved, double-edged blade a jambiya is a very efficient weapon. The center rib that runs from the crossguard to the point on both sides is designed to give this dagger an extraordinarily high degree of stability. The beautiful hardwood grip is waisted and decorated on both sides with sun-shaped metal plates to underscore the distinctive look of this curved dagger. It comes with a leather-covered wooden scabbard.

  • Danish Hand Axe

In the ranks of the Huscarls, the bodyguard of Scandinavian nobles and kings, axes of various sizes were a very popular weapon. The Huscarls often used the Danish axe with their left hand to attack the side of the enemy not protected by a shield. Pictures of the Danish axe can be found, for example, on the Bayeux Tapestry and date to the second half of the 11th century.

Smaller beard axes such as this Danish hand axe had evolved from Francisca and served the Huscarls primarily as devastating throwing axes, but were also used in close combat. A distinctive feature is the relatively long blade cutting, which tapers sharply towards the shaft. The blade encloses the shaft made of wood and is riveted to it. The shaft is largely straight but is widened at the lower end towards the blade, which improves the handling discreetly.
