  • Erbach Bastard Sword

    1 Review(s)

Franz, Count of Erbach-Erbach was famous for his collection of antiques exhibited in his castle at the beginning of the 19th century and in his great hall he had an extensive collection of old German weapons. The original, from around 1480, of this German hand and a half sword was among the swords in his astonishing collection.

During the 15th century armour had reached the peak of effectiveness. To combat this, an improved sword design was required. The Erbach sword is an excellent example of this class of swords. This Renaissance weapon can be assigned to the “Oakeshott Type XVIIIa without fuller” category. Well balanced, it could be used single handed, or with two hands to deliver a powerful blow or a deadly thrust. This sword features a very beautiful steel hilt as the crossguard twists toward its ends, which have the same twist as the pommel riveted firmly in its place. Leather sheath with steel fittings is included. Can be seen in Records Of The Medieval Sword by Ewart Oakeshott.

  • William the Conquerer Sword

The year 1066 AD will forever be known as the turning point of British history with the Norman invasion, led by Duke William “The Conqueror”, soon became the first Norman King of England. This magnificent sword represents the epitome of this heroic man. The long, wide fuller down the blade lightens the weight, making it a formidable weapon. The Brazil-nut shaped pommel has been inset with the battle cross of William, as well as the blade’s fuller. As legend goes, upon landing on the shores of England for the first time William fell flat on his face. Upon rising, he turned and said, “I have already grasped my Kingdom.” The straight hilt has been inscribed with this phrase in Latin: Jam Accepisse Regnum. Finally, the sturdy wooden grip has been covered in a deep, blood red leather and has been wound with a braided silver wire. Accompanying this fine blade is a wooden scabbard, covered in a brown leather and embossed with the cross of the Conqueror. A matching blood red belt with period ties is attached.

  • Maldon Viking Sword

    3 Review(s)

The Maldon Viking sword from Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry collection is a light, agile and resilient fighting blade that captures nearly everything that made this style such a formidable and near legendary design. Created to deal with shields, mail and thick fur or leather armour, it was more than a match for any hand-weapon of its day. Its semi-rounded point was capable of forcefully biting into targets without snagging or catching while its well-honed edge, neither too wide nor too narrow, enabled the widest possible array of single-hand combination blows. Its snub-hilt with distinct lobed-pommel gave the wielder a snug grip facilitating a quick center-of-rotation easily manipulated for exceptionally versatile action. With its capacity for delivering rapid single-handed strikes, it was ideal for fighting armed with a shield but also highly effective when matched with a sax or even a hand-axe.

  • Acre Crusader Broadsword

    1 Review(s)

This medieval Acre Crusader Broadsword from Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry collection is a formidable weapon of proven worth. This classic knightly sword was an idea for sword and shield or sword and buckler combat whether on foot or horseback. The Acre crusader sword is a stout and fearsome blade that takes advantage of its heft, width, and centre and gravity to deliver deadly slashing cuts and hacking blows as well as thrusts.

With a wide cross-guard of over 8" it's no sword for the soft hearted or weak-spirited. Its practical cruciform hilt with single-hand grip and disc pommel was to be the functional model for countless other sword styles to follow.

  • Bosworth Longsword

    5 Review(s)

A beautifully proportioned weapon with dynamic handling qualities, it is a harmony of mass and dimension. With a long, semi-tapered diamond cross-section fitted to a round ergonomic pommel on a double-handed grip, this is a fine example of the perfection that was achieved in this popular design. Against any opposing arms or armour it was capable of quick deadly cuts as well as accurate and forceful thrusts. Aptly named for the bloody late 15th-century battle during the War of the Roses, the Bosworth is a fast and capable warsword adeptly able to execute the deadly “Mastercut” techniques so closely associated with double-handed blades of the period. With a slim handle that virtually begs to be gripped in the diverse and effective winding actions that this kind of sword ideally allowed, it features a surprisingly small heft for its size. This ebony-toned “queen of weapons” is perfectly suited to foot-combat in war, judicial duel or knightly challenge. This is a substantial and graceful weapon that will leave the wielder every confidence it could readily defend life if called upon. Discover with it just why this form of longsword was respected for centuries and celebrated against whatever it encountered.
