Our Temple Church sword is a replica of a sword found in the River Thames in London. The sword, forged in the period between 1300-1350, was discovered opposite Temple Church, the headquarters of the Knights Templar in England.

During the 14th century, the gardens of the Temple in London ran down to the river’s edge where this sword was discovered. The discovery location, coupled with the crosses in the pommel, suggests that it is a Templar knight’s sword thrown into the river when the Order of the Temple was dissolved by Edward II in 1314.

Our Tourney Series Sparring and Stage Swords will set a new standard in this price point of re-enactment weaponry. Features like thru-tang handle construction, peened stainless steel pommel and guard and 2mm rounded edge thickness. 

The cord wrapped leather grip feels exceptional in the hand with an oval cross section and slight barrel shape to keep fatigue at bay. The grip is large enough to accommodate armoured hands. A respectable fuller runs the length of the blade to lighten and counter balance the sword overall.

The blade is forged from 9260 spring steel and is tempered to around 50 Hrc. A wood core and leather wrapped scabbard tipped with a stainless chape comes with each sword. The guard needs special mention, featuring the King-Peen system. King-Peen is essentially a steel tab on the guard under the grip that is pinned through the tang of the sword. This process keeps the guard from working loose without compromising the strength of the hilt. The pommel is pressed into place and hot peened.

Explicitly crafted to CAS specifications, the Crecy War Sword features a traditional thru-tang, peened pommel handle construction. The forged hollow-ground blade possesses a prominent central ridge that tapers the full length of the 81cm blade providing support for the cutting edge.

The 11cm cord-wrapped leather grip is counterbalanced by the stainless pommel for comfortable single-hand fighting. The stainless arched guard pays homage to the English longbowmen who drew victory in the sites of the English King, Edward III.

The double-edged, hardly tapered blade has a long, relatively wide fuller which makes it balance very well. The curved, flared crossguard provides lots of protection for your hand. The term "long sword" designates a sword that is longer than a one handed sword: approximately 37 cm or longer. A long sword was primarily wielded using two hands, but thanks to the comparatively light weight of this classic long sword, one handed techniques are also possible.

Its double-edged blade has three fullers, but the two outer ones only run the length of the ricasso. The ricasso itself is large enough for your second hand to reach over the crossguard with langet to grasp it. This hold significantly increases the pressure behind thrust techniques. The wooden grip is wrapped in leather, and both the pear-shaped pommel and the crossguard are made of steel. Our classic long sword comes with a leather scabbard with a mount and chape.

The latest addition to the Red Dragon Combat range of swords is our Oakeshott XIV Sword. It is a replica of an original that is currently on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Oakeshott describes it as being “an absolutely outstanding sword, not only because of its condition but by reason of its splendid proportions and great size. It dates from around the first quarter of the 14^th century and is remarkably similar to sword found on the body of Sancho IV el Bravo of Castile in Toledo Cathedral.
