Our Houndskull Bascinet is modelled on a late 14th. century original. The visor can be raised to provide greater vision and ventilation.  It features brass studs (vervelles) for the attachment of an aventail. It is constructed from 14 gauge steel and the helmet is fitted with a leather suspension and chinstrap. Manufactured by GDFB and perfect for re-enactment.

Our Battle Bascinet is great for SCA or re-enactment. Although it is based on a historical model, combat specialists have modified this helmet turning it into an essential piece for any battle or melee.   It provides maximum protection without sacrificing an iota of vision. Our skull of our Great Bascinet is constructed from 12 gauge steel making is incredibly durable. The rest of the helmet is constructed from 14 gauge steel.  It features a well-padded adjustable liner and buckled leather chin strap. The visor can be easily removed if required by removing the fixing pins. Perfect for re-enactment.

Typical armets are made up of four pieces: a skull with a reinforced forehead, two cheek plates attached with hinges to the skull and a pointed visor. Cheek plates were closed by a pin and this was secured with a hook or metallic wire. As it was made almost in the exact shape of the neck and chin was necessary to develop a side opening system to allow the easy removal of this helmet.
