Italian Back and Breastplate (Churburg S18) - 16 gauge
Based on the S18 harness from the Churburg armoury, this piece is dated from the 15th century - although some specialists believe that it can be dated from 1370 to 1410. The original armour that this set is based on supposedly belonged to the Von Matsch family and is thought to be a Lombard work.

15th Century German Back and Breastplates (Cuirass) with Tassets - 18 gauge
This is a reproduction of German armour circa 1460 and 1500 with a corrugated and asymmetrical design. It is constructed from 18 gauge steel, and whilst that’s not ideal for re-enactment, it does make it lighter and more comfortable for LARP and theatrical use.

It was influenced by the peaks and ridges of Gothic architecture and art of the period and by the 1480's it was considered to be the best armour in Europe. This type of breastplate was typical of the Spanish armoury in the 16th century and was mainly worn by foot soldiers.
This steel armour is enhanced by riveted brass plates surrounding an oval relief emblem in the center of the breastplate. The relief emblem is that of the coat-of-arms for the Castilla & Leon region of Spain and is accompanied by two fleur de lis, one on either side.
