The sabre has a short guard and large pommel, both of brass, and the grip is wood covered in leather. Includes scabbard.

  • Templar “Heater” Shield

Our Templar Heater Shield is made of curved wood and is covered with sturdy canvas on both sides. The shield has two crossed hand grips made of leather at the back and a long leather arm strap that you hold under tension to keep the shield close to your body. If you need to drop the shield quickly, simply let go of the leather strap (as described in the "Manesse Codex.") Another long strap allows you to carry the shield on your back, and it has a padded arm rest for extra protection against hard blows. • British Royal Navy Boarding Cutlass - 1804 Pattern

    2 Review(s)

This pattern of sword was introduced during the Napoleonic Wars and saw service at the famous Battle of Trafalgar. Previous cutlasses shared a similar figure 8 hilt design but featured horn or leather grips that deteriorated quickly when exposed to seawater and changes in temperature. The introduction of an iron grip greatly extended the serviceable life of this sword. The hilts were traditionally painted or japanned to stop them from rusting. The blade has been forged from AISI 1065 High Carbon Steel and has been well-tempered. It is housed in a black hardened buff leather scabbard.

  • Russian Cossack Sabre (Shashka) - 1942 Pattern

The shashka originated among the mountain tribes of the Caucasus in the 12th or 13th century] Later most of the Russian Cossacks adopted the weapon. It gradually replaced the sabre in all cavalry units except hussars during the 19th century. Russian troops, having encountered it during their conquest of the Caucasus (1817-1864), preferred it to their issue sabres. The Russian Caucasian Corps first adopted it in the 1830s. In 1882 a reorganization of the cavalry saw the regular dragoons armed with the shashka. Cossacks had received this type of sword earlier. Soviet cavalry carried several forms of shashka in the Second World War. Our shashka is forged from high quality EN9 steel and the polished blade is well tempered.
