  • Red Dragon Combat Temple Church Sword

Our Temple Church sword is a replica of a sword found in the River Thames in London. The sword, forged in the period between 1300-1350, was discovered opposite Temple Church, the headquarters of the Knights Templar in England. During the 14th century, the gardens of the Temple in London ran down to the river’s edge where this sword was discovered. The discovery location, coupled with the crosses in the pommel, suggests that it is a Templar knight’s sword thrown into the river when the Order of the Temple was dissolved by Edward II in 1314.

  • Beowulf “Damascus Steel” Seax

Our Beowulf “Damascus Steel” Seax is a weapon truly worthy of the heroes of the epic sagas of old! No man or monster would be safe for the powerful slashing blows of the seax’s pattern welded blade! This blade was formed by twisting bars of steel around each other, welding the bars together by hammering and then repeating the process to create this distinct chevron pattern. Pattern welded swords reflected the high status of those who wielded them and the famous Ulfberht swords were some of the most prized possessions of the Viking era. The hilt features decorative brass fittings and an oiled wooden grip. The well-made brown leather sheath is stitched and then reinforced by attractive copper rivets and features 2 belt loops allowing it to be horizontally suspended from a belt.

  • CLEARANCE - HEMA Sparring Longsword (Federschwert)

CLEARANCE: End of Line, no damage.

Red Dragon has been working on the concept of a fully customisable federschwert for years. This is no easy task but we are almost there! The federschwert will incorporate a range of different pommels, guards, grips and blades - all interchangeable by simply unscrewing the pommel.

The Red Dragon HEMA Concepts Feder has been launched to test how these concepts work on a mass-produced scale. They are manufactured by a military spec. sword manufacturer in Europe and the quality of the blades reflect their expertise in this field. The tempered high carbon steel blades represent a harmonious balance between stiffness and flexibility, perfect for both drilling and sparring. The fattened, square tips are modelled on those of the late 19th-century practice sabres and are much safer and forgiving than rolled tips. (Fatter tips are planned on future models).

Are the Feders as perfect as we are aiming for? No. There are many trade-offs when trying to produce a fully customisable sword. But we are almost there and this is reflected in the price. You may find the guards are a little bit loose. This would be an easy fix on a peened blade with a little epoxy and/or fishing wire. But we have designed these swords to be easily dismantled so that wasn’t an option. Of course, it is certainly an easy fix if you have no plans to dismantle the hilt!

A great sword at a great price – whilst stocks last…

  • Tourney Arming Sword

Blunt Single Hand Sword for re-enactment and stage combat. Our Tourney Series Sparring and Stage Swords will set a new standard in this price point of re-enactment weaponry. Features like thru-tang handle construction, peened stainless steel pommel and guard and 2mm rounded edge thickness

The cord wrapped leather grip has an oval cross section and slight barrel shape to keep fatigue at bay. The grip is large enough to accommodate armoured hands. A respectable fuller runs the length of both pieces to lighten and counter balance the sword overall. The blade is forged from 9260 high carbon spring steel and is tempered to around 50 Hrc. The sword is supplied with a wood core and leather wrapped scabbard. The guard features the King-Peen system. King-Peen is essentially a steel tab on the guard under the grip that is pinned through the tang of the sword. This process keeps the guard from going loose after a lengthy campaign without compromising the strength of the hilt. The pommel is pressed into place and hot peened. Combine these two processes and you get a sword that rings like a bell when struck.
