English Two-Hand Sword

Two handed swords were the scourge of late medieval battlefields. Due to their slender blades. these dreaded cutting weapons were also able to deliver well-placed thrusts. The wide crossguard with rounded finials has an elaborate langet and the solid, riveted fish tail pommel makes this English two handed sword extremely well-balanced. The relatively angular grip is wrapped with dark violet leather, which adds a special touch to its simple elegance. This edged weapon is a replica of sword number IV.1787 from the Royal Armories in the Tower of London.

Great Great Sword If You're 6 ft.Review by Nicholas
This is a sword that has some fantastic reach at the expense of that little extra weight. It's good for drills, which will help build up stamina, but for actual sparring you might want to consider your opponents equipment before engaging as this sword will likely cause them to suffer distress if you meet them strongly.

It's very well made and has a fantastic finish when first pulled from its sheath. It comes with a good layer of protective oil so you might want to get a good cleaning cloth ready for its arrival. (Posted on 13/07/2018)
A Great-sword indeedReview by Michael
This sword is large! Larger than my custom Montante. It is very well balanced for a production weapon and quite handsome to boot.

The sword comes well protected and oiled, with the fittings being in steel.
The sheath is made of leather and is flexible, with metal a metal chape and throat.

I was quite impressed with the rain-guard, with a section of the cross overlapping the sheathes throat. This helps to keep moisture out and is a very nice touch not often seen on production swords.

The sword has a decent balance, but requires good stamina and technique to use for prolonged periods. It does has incredible cutting power, even with the edge supplied.
The blade has good flex and does not retain a set after use or flexing in a vice.

Be advised that if this weapon is bought from the Knight shop with this sharpening service the edge is quite a rough secondary bevel.

all in all a very good purchase. (Posted on 21/11/2017)
Great sword, even though a bit on the heavy sideReview by Eugene
Beautiful weapon, feels well balanced and provides excellent reach in HEMA combat. The blade is flexible, but not wobbly, so feels good. The shape of the hilt fits the hand nicely, although is slightly limiting when it comes to changing grips. The pommel isn't the most ergonomic for cuts, but is historically accurate (I've seen very similar swords in museums). The downside is the weapon's weight, being above average for most longswords. But then again, it does come with a lot of extra reach and is definitely not heavy to the extent of being cumbersome. Overall, great piece, I like it :) (Posted on 28/03/2017)
