  • Miniature Suit of Armour

Fully enclosed suits of armour (or harnesses as they were known) were a development of the 15th century and afforded paramount protection for the wearer. The joints were articulated to allow for a combination of maximum protection whilst still allowing the wearer freedom to move and fight. The polished surfaces gave rise to the term "Alwyte Armour" and made it hard for blades and arrowheads to gain purchase.

Our Miniature Suit of Armour is a 1/3 scale replica and is fully articulated like the original. It comes complete with stand and sword and will add a sense of grandeur to wherever it is placed. Some (simple) assembly is required.

    Polished steel finish.

  • Excalibur Sword - Decorated

Excalibur (meaning to 'cut steel') was the great sword of King Arthur which 'gave light like 30 torches'. In the Arthurian stories, the name is given to two different swords - the one that the young king pulled from the anvil set in the stone before the church, and so proved his right to the kingship; and the other which the king took from the arm that rose above the surface of the lake, 'clothed in white samite, mystic, wonderful' and which eventually received back the sword when Arthur was dying.

Our Excalibur sword is a product of the world famous Art Gladius factory in the historic sword manufacturing city of Toledo, Spain. The ornate hilt features heraldic dragons on both the pommel and guard and tops a broad, etched stainless steel blade.

  • Practical Single-Hand Sword

    2 Review(s)

Our Practical broadswords are all based on authentically styled swords in our collection but they are tailored to meet the needs of re-enactment and stage combat. These very popular and affordable weapons feature authentic hilt styling, with fully tempered un-edged and un-pointed blades. They are designed to withstand rugged use while providing the level of safety required by many of today’s re-enactment societies.

The blades are crafted from 1065 high-carbon steel, hardened to 50HRC, which restricts edge-notching to acceptable levels while providing resilience and protection against brittleness. While the blades are substantial, they are fullered to provide balance and good handling characteristics. They feature 1/16” wide edges and rounded tips for safety. The tangs are also substantial, with radiused corners at the blade shoulders and no welds.

    Total length: 92.7 cm
    Blade length: 76.2 cm
    Grip length: 16.5 cm

  • Roman Pompeii Gladius - Decorated

The Roman Gladius was the primary weapon of the Roman Legionary and was used in conjunction with the 'Scutum' (shield) and 'Pilum' (spear). Its design was strongly influenced by the swords used by the Iberian (Spanish) Celts. It was predominantly designed as a thrusting weapon and was in use in one form or another from the 4th Century BC to the 3rd Century AD. The Pompeii Gladius takes its name from the archaeological site in Italy where, during excavations, 4 such swords were found. The swords are dated to before 79AD - the year that Pompeii was buried in volcanic ash. The Pompeii Gladius, along with the earlier Mainz Pattern Gladius, would have been issued to the garrison at Hadrian’s Wall. Examples can be seen in H. Russell Robinson’s book "What The Soldiers Wore On Hadrians Wall'".

Our Pompeii Gladius features a turned wood pommel and bone grip. The straight blade is hand forged from steel and in housed in a wooden scabbard with red leather covering and decorated brass fittings. This sword is not designed or recommended for contact reenactment (fighting) but is favoured by living history enthusiasts.
