Our Rotary Hand Quern is inspired by quern stones in the Whitworth Museum collection in Dumfries, Scotland. Querns like this have been used since ancient times to grind grain, and were carried by the Roman Legionaries on campaign.

This working replica is great for re-enactment and Living History. The grain is poured into the hole at the top as the hand-stone rotates against the saddle-stone to grind the unmalted grain into flour.

This classic style leather pouch was worn for hundreds of years. The simple construction allows for a simple pull of a drawstring to secure the pouch and then allows it to be tied to a belt or saddle.
