The sallet or salade was popular across much of Europe throughout the second half of the 15th century. Short-Tailed Sallets were associated with English and French knights whereas the Long Tailed Sallets were used almost exclusively by the Germans. This reconstruction features a moveable visor (introduced late in the period to improve visibility).

This sallet is excellent, even if it signaled that this is large size, it is needed to know that you will use padded protection under it, so with protection it is perfect for medium size head (56-58) (Posted on 05/09/2018)

The helmet itselfe is quite good as long as you are large enough in the head to fit it. The visor however has an edge on the inner side below the eyeopening that can cause injury if the helmet is hitt hard from the front. This edge on the inside of the visor can be grinded down so that the helmet can be used safely, but when you buy a helmet one hopes it comes battle ready. (Posted on 23/12/2017)
