The back of this dress laces up and has a hidden modesty panel, which leaves breathing room after a little too much feasting. This romantic red cotehardie with buttons is based on a 12th century painting. It reflects the clothing noblewomen wore at the time of the Crusades, and is very lightweight. The dramatic slit at the front is echoed at the foresleeves, and the high collar and long sleeves are edged in the same decorative trim as the front slit. It must have been a noblewoman's dress, because buttons did not come into general use until the 14th century.

Our new delicate lace trimmed chemise in white is a very feminine undergarment that's light and airy. The sleeve edges and neckline have a small white lace trim. The bottom of the chemise is adorned with a white flower trim that adds to the charm. This can be worn under many of our gowns or surcoats.

In days of old when your garb clearly showed which class you belonged to and was very difficult to come by as well, clothing had to be handled with care. Everyone wore a chemise right next to their skin – it protected all the other garb from perspiration and had long sleeves so that elegant ladies could even use them as underdresses. Our traditional chemise has long, graceful sleeves decorated with lace trim and equipped with drawstrings so they can be gathered to the length required. The neckline is also adjustable. Also suitable for use as a nightgown!
