  • Wo Yao Dao

    Wo Yao Dao (Japanese style waist saber) is a single handed saber.  It has a slender profile, with an accelerated curve towards the tip, which is typical for Ming to early Qing sabers. It has a ridged cross-section, much in the style of Japanese swords but without the kissaki that is so characteristic for Japanese work.

    This Wo Yao Dao is closely based on an antique Late Ming Dynasty Yao Dao in the fame Mandarin Mansion Collection.

    Han Dao, appeared around 100 BC, was the grandfather of all Chinese Dao and its classic design became a standard from Mid Han Dynasty to the 3 Kingdom period. Cavalry Han Dao was one of the main weapon use to in the Han-Xiongnu war and is a historically significant weapon and formidable piece to add to your sword collection.

  • Qi Ja Yao Dao

    Qi-Ja Yao Dao (General Qi's waist saber) is a single handed military saber. The blade has a gentle curve, a single fuller and a flat back ridge. Most saber fittings of this era were made of iron with solid and austere aesthetics.

    This Yao Dao is based on an antique Ming Dynasty Yao Dao in LK Chen's private collection. During General Qi tenure in the northern frontier against Mongolian invasion. Yao Dao was the sidearm for the riders in the cavalry.  For infantry units, Yao Dao was used in pair with a rattan shield.

  • Yan Ling Dao

    Yan Ling Dao marks a transition from traditional straight-blade Chinese Dao to curve Dao. The blade is mostly straight with a smooth curve towards the tip of theblade. Many original specimens came with an upper edge and 1-2 fullers. Yan Ling Dao is suitable for both cavalry and infantry and was popular in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.

    This chiseled and solid Yan Ling Dao is closely modeled after a unique 17th century specimen in Mr. Peter Dekker's private collection. The rare sundial-like hand guard gives the name of the sword "Tai Yang", which means the sun. The fittings are cast iron and in the "Fang-Shi" or square style popular in the mid-17th century to early 18th century.

    During the Ming Dynasty, there was a substantial trading between China and Japan with contracted import of swords. Together with the warfare along coastal provinces against the Wokou (Japanese Invaders), Japanese swords had great influence in Chinese military weapons at the time. The Chang Dao (Long Saber) also known as Dan Dao (Single/Sole saber) was the Chinese adaptation of the Japanese Long Sabers.

    A sweeping slender curve blade with clean elegant scabbard and fitting design, "Silver Swallow" is a tribute to a long tradition of double hand long sabers starting from Da Dao of the Ming Dynasty, through various military long sabers of Qing Green standard Army to the 20th century marital arts Miao Dao.

    The dimension of the Sliver Swallow is closer to the early Ming Dynasty Da Dao and the Qing Dynasty Green Standard armies long sabers. The thick spine cross section and smooth long handle follows the tradition of 20th century Miao Dao.
