  • Stage Combat Sir William Marshal Sword

Our Stage Combat swords feature tempered, high carbon steel blades and are designed for light combat use. They have durable, thick edges, more than suitable for the rigours of stage combat and display fights. They also feature rounded tips for extra safety. Stage Combat swords are noticeably heavier than historical replicas due to the added weight afforded by the thicker edges. These swords are not designed for re-enactment use.

Sir William Marshal was one of England's most famous knights and described by the Archbishop of Canterbury as the "best knight that ever lived". He served 4 kings including Richard the Lionheart and was one of the most powerful men in Europe. By the time of his death in 1219 he was referred to throughout Europe as "The Marshal".

The Sir William Marshal Sword is inspired by the one that he is holding in his tomb effigy at Temple Church, London. It features a hand-forged high carbon steel blade, steel pommel and guard, and a waisted leather grip. It comes complete with a well made leather and wood scabbard with brass belt loops (for attaching to a sword belt). This item has a blunt blade and is manufactured for display only.

  • Red Dragon Combat - Hand and a Half Sword (3mm Edge)

    1 Review(s)

These latest additions to the Red Dragon Combat Range feature 3mm re-enactment safe edges and rounded tips. The blades are formed from tempered high-carbon steel and fullered to ensure they are swift in the hand. Indeed a lot of time and effort has gone into make these blades as agile as possible whilst retaining a re-enactment safe edge.

The steel hilt fittings neatly sandwich the leather wrapped wooden grip and are held in place by a traditional peened tang. The leather wrapped wooden scabbard features a protective rain guard and metal chape. If you are part of a re-enactment group we recommend consulting your safety officer for guidance before purchase.

  • Charlemagne Sword

Charlemagne, Carolus Magnus, Charles the Great, king of the Franks and emperor of Western Europe, was born in 742, and became an undisputed chief and one of the great centers of power in history, the Holy Roman Empire. Through his conquests abroad and his internal reforms, Charlemagne laid the foundations of what would become Western Europe in the Middle Ages. Today, Charlemagne is regarded not only as the founder of the French and German monarchy, which he is named as Charles I, but also as the father of Europe.

Replica of the legendary "Joyeuse", currently in the Louvre Museum, but which comes from the treasure of the abbey of Saint-Denis. This sword has been used in the consecration of all the kings and emperors of France. The sword of consecration was considered, since the thirteenth century, as that of Charlemagne, the "Joyeuse" (the Merry). Its handle and insert, which carry a vegetal element in the center of the guard, date back to the High Middle Ages. Its spike, adorned until 1804 with fleurs-de-lis on the rhombuses, looks Gothic. Its hawks, formed by small winged dragons, date from the second half of the twelfth century.
