  • Sancho IV Sword

Sancho IV of Castile (1258-1295), nicknamed "the Brave", proclaimed himself king of Castile and León in the Cathedral of Toledo (1284) on the death of his father King Alfonso X despite having been disinherited by disagreements with him. He died in Toledo (1295), at the age of 37, a victim of phthisis, being buried in the Chapel of Santa Cruz of the Cathedral of Toledo.

The remains of King Sancho IV were located in an archaeological exploration looking for the remains of Sancho II of Portugal (1947). Next to the corpse is a sword, with an overgilded hilt, and on the blade of the sword has engraved an inscription of which only some fragments were preserved, the blade being rusty in some parts. The sword was worthy of a Castilian monarch.

  • Tourney Arming Sword

Blunt Single Hand Sword for re-enactment and stage combat. Our Tourney Series Sparring and Stage Swords will set a new standard in this price point of re-enactment weaponry. Features like thru-tang handle construction, peened stainless steel pommel and guard and 2mm rounded edge thickness

The cord wrapped leather grip has an oval cross section and slight barrel shape to keep fatigue at bay. The grip is large enough to accommodate armoured hands. A respectable fuller runs the length of both pieces to lighten and counter balance the sword overall. The blade is forged from 9260 high carbon spring steel and is tempered to around 50 Hrc. The sword is supplied with a wood core and leather wrapped scabbard. The guard features the King-Peen system. King-Peen is essentially a steel tab on the guard under the grip that is pinned through the tang of the sword. This process keeps the guard from going loose after a lengthy campaign without compromising the strength of the hilt. The pommel is pressed into place and hot peened. Combine these two processes and you get a sword that rings like a bell when struck.

  • Historical Excalibur

    4 Review(s)

If King Arthur actually existed many historians place him as a war leader seeking to halt the invasion of the Saxons after the fall of Rome. There are many indications that England did, after a time of much strife, have a brief period of peace and prosperity in what is now called the "Dark Ages".

This sword is of a type that was widely in use during this period and would be what a hard-fighting warrior would prefer. Nicely balanced, well-tempered high carbon steel blade offset with antiqued brass parts.

  • Excalibur Sword - Decorated

Excalibur (meaning to 'cut steel') was the great sword of King Arthur which 'gave light like 30 torches'. In the Arthurian stories, the name is given to two different swords - the one that the young king pulled from the anvil set in the stone before the church, and so proved his right to the kingship; and the other which the king took from the arm that rose above the surface of the lake, 'clothed in white samite, mystic, wonderful' and which eventually received back the sword when Arthur was dying.

Our Excalibur sword is a product of the world famous Art Gladius factory in the historic sword manufacturing city of Toledo, Spain. The ornate hilt features heraldic dragons on both the pommel and guard and tops a broad, etched stainless steel blade.
