Yppocrasso was invented by the famous Greek physician Hippocrates around 460 BC. It was he who let the flowers of the dictamnus and artemisia macerate in the wine of his land, strong and rich in sugars. He obtained a drink with healing power. During the Middle Ages, the preparation was affected by the aromas and flavours of new spices from the East, through the new routes of the silk road and was particularly appreciated for its digestive and aphrodisiac qualities.
