Frank Miller's blockbuster "300" almost shocked the box office as much as the 300 Spartans shocked the Persian army. That the film is not a historically correct reproduction of the actual events, should be clear to everyone, because the comic filming has deliberately placed its focus on aesthetics. It is similar to clothing and armament, given that the Spartan Hoplites were among the most heavily armed fighters of antiquity, carrying about half a hundred pounds of equipment.
