Flintlock Pistol - 17th Century

£26.67

Flintlock pistols were used as both military and self-defence weapons. Their effective range was much shorter than a musket and they were frequently used in combination with sword or cutlass. The flintlock mechanism was first added to pistols in 1610 and by 1630 they started to become more common. The Parliamentarian cavalry were known to use early forms of flintlock pistol during the English Civil War. They proved to be effective against the unarmoured musketeers but were no match for the armour worn by both pikemen and cavalry. During the 1700's flintlock pistols would be carried by army and navy officers, as well as more notorious characters such as pirates and highwaymen. The flintlock pistol remained popular until the middle of the 19th century when it was gradually replaced by the more reliable percussion cap pistol.

Our Flintlock Pistol is hand crafted in Italy. It features a real wood stock and cast metal parts with an antique finish. Although this item is designed and manufactured with display in mind, the firing mechanism does work and the hammer can be released by pulling the trigger. It is not possible to make this item fire and it is not suitable for re-enactment. It is great for Pirate cosplay and fancy dress!

Next day delivery, very good value for money.Review by David

Pistol arrived very well packed and protected. It was bought for use in a pirate festival and was purchased initially for a woman as it weighs only 388 grams but still feels a solid and substantial piece of equipment. It also looks equally as good when handled by my 5 year old Grandson and at that weight he is happy to carry it in his holster for many hours. The trigger mechanism and first and second cock work well with a very convincing authentic sound as its cocked. The wood has a very good colour but it did look even better with a light polish with beeswax. The blued steel look to the barrel is really impressive and all it would need is a light coat of oil when stored until the next event. In my opinion it would not look out of place on display. All in all, very good value for the money. (Posted on 28/06/2022)

I wasnt expecting much for £25, mainly bought it to look pretty on the wall, but its a pretty good replica for the money, the weights good, hammer cocks and half cocks good, i've dry fired it a dozen times since it arrived and theres no problems, will definetly be buying more flintlock pistols from here (Posted on 02/02/2022)

It isn't the best product out there but for the price it's an excellent decor piece. Once you start thoroughly inspecting the gun you can see it has some flaws but at this price range it doesn't really matter. Got this for my father as a Christmas gift, he was pleased. (Posted on 04/01/2017)
