Our Great Helmet of Rieter von Kornburg is a well-made replica of an original in the Germanische Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg, Germany. It dates from around 1375 and was found in the family tomb at All Saints Church. The Rieter von Kornburg family were living in Nuremberg since 1361 and the helmet is thought to have been made in an armourer’s yard there.
It is constructed from 18 gauge steel and features hand painted brass effect decoration like the original. It features a chainmail aventail to protect the neck. The Great Helm of Rieter van Kornburg is a fantastic display piece! Not recommended for contact re-enactment.
