The Burgonet was a 16th century cavalry helmet that was often worn with a "Falling Buffe" to protect the face. The Border Reivers of the English-Scottish borderlands were very fond of burgonets in the Elizabethan era, a result of this is that Reivers were often called steil (steel) bonnets.
Our Renaissance Burgonet is hand crafted in Italy from 18 gauge steel with an antiqued finish. It features a tilting upper and lower visor to protect the face and has a similar hinged construction to a Close Helm. Features adjustable leather strap for a secure fit. Does not include liner.
