In the history of fashion, legs have not always been covered. Leg coverings themselves span the range from wide tubes joined at the top to close-fitting hose. At times they were frowned upon as being offensive but at others, they were welcomed because of the practical advantages they offer. Our brown fitted hose were all the rage at the beginning of the 15th century and then again during the French Revolution... the ladies had to wait until the 20th century for the modern, super-fine version.

These brown hose are made of cotton with a small amount of stretch to keep their form. You can kneel for hours at your lady's feet without worrying about having baggy knees when you stand up again.
