Our HEMA Sparring Jacket by Red Dragon is designed for HEMA and is constructed from a 350N rated heavy-duty cotton with an inner lining. The jacket is well padded to receive blows but has no padding on the back as it is very rare to receive effective blows here. This has the effect of reducing the weight of the jacket whilst increasing the breathability. The zipped front panel overlaps to provide a double-layer of protection against thrusts to the torso.

This jacket also features an innovative built in gorget, designed to overlap the bib of a fencing mask to stop thrusts from travelling upwards from beneath the bib. The gorget features a padded plastic plate to protect the throat and adjustable Velcro straps that allow it to be attached either at the back of the collar or at the back of the shoulders. The gorget can also be worn under the bib of the mask if you so wish. The back of the jacket features an adjustable webbing strap with velcro attachment which allows it to be pulled in at the waist for a more streamlined fit.

Our HEMA Light Sparring Jacket by Red Dragon is designed for HEMA and is constructed from a 350N rated heavy-duty cotton with an inner lining. The jacket features less padding than our HEMA Sparring Jacket and is better suited to single hand weapons such as rapier and sabre.

This jacket has no padding on the back as it is very rare to receive effective blows here – especially from rapiers and sabres. This has the effect of reducing the weight of the jacket whilst increasing the breathability. It also does not have padding on the inside of the arms reducing the weight further.

The padded collar features a blade catcher to help protect against stray thrusts that may go under the bib of a fencing mask.  The back of the jacket features an adjustable webbing strap with Velcro attachment which allows it to be pulled in at the waist for a more streamlined fit.

Our HEMA Sparring Pants by Red Dragon are designed for HEMA and are constructed from a 350N rated heavy-duty cotton. They feature padded protection panels on the front of the upper thighs and a layer of padding over the knees. The level of protection on the knees can be improved by inserting our Red Dragon Knee Protectors into the Velcro fastened pockets. There are 2 adjustable straps at the waist for a comfortable fit and elasticated braces to hold them in place. They also feature 2 pockets at the back, a zipped fly and are elasticated below the knee.

Our Red Dragon Rapier Gloves are designed to protect against the blisters, scrapes and abrasions that are associated with drilling with a sword. They are lightly padded to absorb light impact whilst training but are not designed for full contact sparring and should not be worn for this purpose.

Our Red Dragon HEMA Synthetic Extended Pommel is twice as long as our standard scent-stopper pommels giving an extra 6.5cm of grip. This allows for the bulkiest of padded gloves and provides a lot of extra torque in the blade! The Extended Pommel will convert your single hand sword into a Bastard sword and give your Longsword blade an extra-long grip.

Our Red Dragon HEMA Synthetic Longsword Blades are manufactured from our own special blend of plastic to provide strong and flexible sparring blade. They are designed to flex along the last 1/3 of their length towards the tip allowing for much safer thrusting than with conventional wooden wasters or shinai. The blade/tang joint (traditionally a weak point) is reinforced by a high tensile steel rod running along the full length of the handle. This also removes any flex in the handle traditionally associated with plastic training swords. The edges are left smooth to prevent friction burns but can be roughened with sandpaper for a better bind.
