We offer one of the best sections of medieval bascinets available to buy in the UK. Our range of bascinets includes 14 and 16 gauge helmets designed for re-enactment and SCA use. Some of these helmets are constructed with 12 gauge skulls making them incredibly durable. Our collection includes bascinets that are inspired by historical pieces such as the bascinet worn by Robert the Bruce and our Tournament Great Bascinet. Many of our bascinets have detachable visors and vervailles for attaching mail aventails.   • English Bascinet - 14 gauge

    The bascinet was one of the most commonly used helmets amongst cavalry and infantry from 1300 until approximately 1420. This type of helmet can be seen in a number of artistic representations, where the entire formations of soldiers would wear this kind of helmet.

  • Great Bascinet - 14 gauge

    Our 15th Century Great Bascinet features a moveable visor that can be opened both upward and also towards each side thanks to the removable pins in the hinges. Brass vervelles attached to the rim serve as attachment points for an aventail.

    It is crafted from 14 gauge steel making it great for re-enactment and features a padded lining and a leather chin strap.

  • Klappviser Bascinet - 14 gauge - Large

    The Klappvisier Bascinet is characterised by the single central hinge of the removable visor and was common in fourteenth century Germany. The visor typically covered the parts of the face not protected by an aventail, attachment points (vervelles) for which are provided on this helmet.

    It is crafted in 14 gauge steel and offers full head protection. Lined and ready for use. Perfect for the re-enactment field.

    Our Houndskull Bascinet is modelled on a late 14th century original. The visor can be raised to provide greater vision and ventilation. It features brass studs (vervelles) for the attachment of an aventail.
