This Hospitaller Tunic is made from medium-weight black cotton. A white velvet cross has been beautifully stitched to the chest and faux leather trims adorn the collar and shoulders. Quartered with splits in the front and back as well as both sides provide room for fighting or riding.

The Order of the Hospital San Juan from Jerusalem has its origins about the year 1070, when a group of Italian merchants constructed a hospital in Jerusalem to attend to the pilgrims.

At the council of Troyes in 1128, the Templar Order was confirmed by Pope Honorius II. The Knights received the white vestment as a symbol of purity of their life, to which Pope Eugenius added the red cross in 1146. King Baldwin II, the King of Jerusalem, installed the Order in a part of the Palace of Jerusalem believed to be Solomon’s Temple, from which they took the name of Knights of the Temple or Templars.
The order’s battle honours in the defence of the Holy Land are now legendary, while the accounts of their missing accumulated wealth are still a mystery.

This Templar Tunic is made from a medium weight white cotton and has a large red velvet Templar cross stitched to the chest, with faux leather trims on the collar and shoulders.

This 14th-century Tunic was one of the early designed tunics and was worn as a basic dress by both men and women in medieval Europe.
