Bascinets were one of the favourite choices of helmet in the 14th century and 15th century. It was probably an evolution of the cabasset used under the helmet by both cavalry and infantry. Some variations of this item were used with coif instead of aventail. This design is based on several artistic representations dating from the first quarter of the 14th century and is common in the Spanish peninsula. Its pyramidal grill system in the visor offers an excellent defence as well as an optimal vision. The visor is foldable and has a pin system that allows a quick unmount if needed.
Made in 2mm steel with 1.6mm visor. Steel thickness may vary due to the handcrafted methods used in its manufacture. The steel is untreated and may have rust. To protect the steel you may rub it with mineral or synthetic oil. Leather chin strap included.
