Gurkha Kukris & Military Knives

England started recruiting Gurkha for its army in 1816. Since then, their traditional edged weapons – kukris – have been part of the standard issue of Gurkha regiments in Great Britain, India, and Nepal. We offer a fantastic selection of kukris manufactured to official military specifications. The kukri that are manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts are made in the same forge that began forging weapons for the British Army back in 1943. Our range of Kukris includes a Gurkha Officer’s Kukri with real horn grip and a Gigantic Ceremonial Kukri which is designed for traditional ritual purposes. Our Gurkha Assam Rifles Kukri was designed specifically for this regiment and is made to official specifications. Our Gurkha Service Kukri is a great value kukri for those not seeking military specifications.

  • Gurkha Officer's Kukri (Official Spec.)

    3 Review(s)

Our Officer’s Kukri is manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts. It is a little smaller than the standard regimental weapon, but its grip is made of natural buffalo horn. The blade of tempered carbon steel came from the same forge that has made the official edged weapons of the Indian Army for years. The officer's model has a short, narrow fuller from the grip to the curve of the blade and the typical cutouts that symbolise the god Shiva's trident. It has a full tang, which is riveted to the brass pommel end.

This Officer’s Kukri includes a wooden scabbard covered with black buffalo leather and a brass chape. At the back, there are two pockets for the smaller accompanying knives, the karda and chakmak. The holder for the belt loop is removable as required.

  • British Type D Survival Knife

This recreation of the British Rodgers-Sheffield Type D Survival Knife has a blued blade of high carbon steel; it is faithfully reproduced with manufacturer and armory markings. The grip is two wooden grip halves stoutly riveted to the thick blade tang. The knife comes with a sheath of stitched and riveted leather with an integrated belt loop and grip retaining strap.

The British Type D Survival Knife was issued to all branches of the military after its introduction in the 1950s. Based on the codes stamped on the blade it can be discerned what branch of service the knife was issued to. The knife shown here is a replica of a Type D that was issued to the Royal Air Force as designated by a stamped serial code beginning with 27C.

This robust survival knife has a thick-spined blade well able to chop and hack through durable targets. Its contoured grip securely fits the palm of most hands quite well.
