Details
Ivanhoe is the title of the epic novel written by Sir Walter Scott and first published in 1820. It is set in 12th century England and features famous characters from the period such as Robin Hood and King Richard battling with the evil Prince John and his Templar allies. The hero of the tale, Wilfred of Ivanhoe, is a Saxon knight who is disinherited by his father for following King Richard on crusade. The story had a lasting impact on the Robin Hood legend and was also the inspiration behind the Egilton Tournament of 1839 where knights once again tilted in the lists.
The Ivanhoe Sword is a product of the world famous Art Gladius factory in the historic sword manufacturing city of Toledo, Spain. Toledo has a reputation for producing some of the finest swords in Europe and has been a centre of sword production for centuries. The antique brass hilt features a pommel with lion's head decoration and wire wrapped grip. The guard features a heraldic shield at its centre supported by Saxon dragon heads. The blunt stainless steel blade features heraldic decoration and is suitable for display only.
