The Kingston Arms Sport Feder is ideal for clubs, beginners and even seasoned practitioners that want a light, fast, safe and affordable sparring sword for HEMA longsword sparring. This federschwert was designed to be safe in the thrust by flexing in the last third of the blade while keeping the rest of the sword stiff in the bind. The tip is slightly flared in thickness as well and can be used as it is with proper equipment or fitted with a leather mask or plastic tip for an added degree of safety.
Other features include a ramped thumb guard, allowing easy placement of a gloved thumb onto and off the blade during guard transitions. The pommel is indexed to the flat of the blade, making it second nature to distinguish proper edge alignment with the rearward hand. The wood core grip is in a well rounded rectangular cross section and tightly bound with an overwrap of cord to provide a firm grip.

For an affordable feder for week to week practice I don't see how you could get better.
The corners may take a bit of damage at first but nothing that a file and some fine grit paper wouldn't sort out. I think this would stabilise after a while as the corners rounded off.
Ultimately a very good tool that fulfills it's role well as a club-feder at a very affordable price. (Posted on 31/07/2017) - Mixed feelings Review by James

Initial thoughts on arrival was that it looked good, the fuller etc makes for a nice looking blade. Weight was pretty good as well.
However upon first use after a not particulary heavy sparring session the grip cord had already started to come loose and the grip itself now rattles on the tang whenever the blade is struck.
I found it nice to wield, especially in the thrust but did find that against harder hits from a firmer blade that it was harder to give a strong parry.
One of my oppenents gave it a try but was far too flexible for his liking.
I'm a litle dissapointed in the grip issues so soon after buying, but I think this will be relegated to a spare club sword for those yet to buy their own steel which is probably exactly what it's perfect for. (Posted on 12/07/2017)
