The sallet was a war helmet that replaced the bascinet in Italy, western and northern Europe and Hungary during the mid-15th century. In Italy, France and England the armet helmet was also popular, but in Germany, the sallet became almost universal.
Made in 1.6mm steel with a natural canvas liner. Steel thickness may vary due to the handcrafted methods used in its manufacture. The steel is untreated and may have rust. To protect the steel you may rub it with mineral or synthetic oil. Leather chin strap included.

I must say i was in awe when this arrived in the post. It is a beautifully crafted helmet and fully functional. The visor stays up and locks down (the lock is quite difficult to unlock and i find that i have to take off the helmet to unlock it with both hands).
This helmet is very light yet brutally strong. Will stand up to any reenactment weapon with ease. It has some historical padding but you will want to wear a padded cap underneath as well. The helmet also features a simple leather chin-strap which is well made and strong.
The plume holder is simple and functional, you can buy some decent feathers very cheap on amazon in all colours. Im using gold but i have a few different colours at the ready for different reenactment events.
The two visor rivets arent gold though, they are poloshed steel which matches the rest of the helmet which i actually prefer.
The helmet also has a simple yet pretty detailing round the bottom of the helmet, a petit flick on the neckguard (moreso than the picture makes you assume) and a sturdy ridge from the centre of the brow to the back of the skull.
Incredibly satisfied with this helmet and so far I have nothing but great things to say about Marshal Historical. I will be using them for most of my harness. (Posted on 11/10/2019)
