Details
The Great Bascinet differs from Hounskull and Pigface Bascinets in that the throat is protected by a plate gorget instead of a chainmail aventail. This style of Great Bascinet dates from 1400-1450 and is similar to those displayed in museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Our skull of our Great Bascinet is constructed from 12 gauge steel making is incredibly durable. The rest of the helmet is constructed from 14 gauge steel. It features a well-padded adjustable liner and buckled leather chin strap. The visor can be easily removed if required by removing the fixing pins. Perfect for re-enactment.
Steel thickness may vary due to the handcrafted methods used on its manufacturing.

I purchased this Bascinet some time ago now and to be honest the quality of this helmet is incredible and have since noticed this bascinet being used by the French team in the battle of the Nations, it does what it says on the tin so to speak, I mean for the price and quality of this helmet it's pretty hard to beat and i would defy anybody to find a helmet of 12 gauge and battle ready anywhere for this price, if you want one of these bascinets buy it now a bascinet of this quality and material should be upwards of 500 British pounds easily and still have to pinch myself when i think about the insane price of this helmet.
