Description
Details
The sallet was a war helmet that replaced the bascinet in Italy, western and northern Europe and Hungary during the mid-15th century. In Italy, France and England the armet helmet was also popular, but in Germany, the sallet became almost universal. The large amount of artistic representation and original pieces indicate that even with a slight German predominancy, this was a common choice of helmet throughout Europe. This specific model, with back tail and without a visor, was commonly used by infantry and mercenary due to its versatility.
