Viking Axes

Battle Axes were one of the most fearsome weapons used by the Viking and Anglo-Saxons alike. The shape of the axe head differed according to its purpose. Broad headed 2 handed axes that appeared towards the end of the period were specialised weapons that were almost a distinguishing mark of the Anglo-Danish Huscarls at the Battle of Hastings. Beaded Axes are sometimes identified as being specifically Nordic in origin. We offer a great rage of Viking Axes. From the broad bladed battle axes to the francisca style throwing axes we are sure to have an axe that suits your needs. We even stock axe heads with 3mm edges that are suitable for re-enactment.

    1 Review(s)

Cutting tools of the Vikings commonly doubled as weapons of war when these famed raiders sailed on pillaging forays. Their axes were certainly top of the list and came to symbolise the terror spread among their foes. Varying greatly in size, from small throwing axes to the mighty Danish Axe, these were the most commonly used weapons of these Nordic warriors.

This Bearded Axe is fabricated in carbon steel with a hardwood shaft and will withstand light use. A good match for many Viking and medieval personae at 31" overall.
