Riding capes like this one have been an essential part of every mounted nobleman's garb since the High Middle Ages. The heavyweight fabric and generous, deep hood provided extra protection from wind and weather and the cut – open at the front – hardly restricted a rider's freedom of movement.
This red & white riding cape with hood is made of 100 percent cotton. The transition to the lined hood is marked by two metal brooches that anchor the metal chain that keeps the cape in place. White on the outside and lined with wine red, this riding cape with hood measures approx. 140 cm from the shoulder down.
