This type of Roman Legionary leather belt (balteus) is characteristic of the cingulum militare worn by many soldiers in the Roman legions. The five strips of leather that hang from the centre to form a protective "skirt" make this Roman belt similar to ones that many legionaries are pictured wearing. The Roman Legionary belt is made of genuine, 3 mm thick leather. Each of the five strips has decorative brass plates riveted onto it, and round steel coins hang on bronze rings from the ends.
