No knight would be without this trusty sidearm which could be used if he lost his sword on the battlefield. There are many manuscripts written on its use and it was clearly an efficient weapon in the right hands. The etched blade is forged from steel and is topped by brass hilt fittings with a carved wooden grip. This is a weapon for no mere peasant! comes complete with scabbard.

- An affordable, price-performance practical daggerReview by Pablo Alberto

However, what I've found is one of the best price-performance items for training I've owned. The quality and finish of this particular model is above and beyond the price range.
First, the handle. The carved wood is certainly unique and gives it a very particular look. It feels splendid in the hand as well, and the interwined wood curiously provides a very solid grip despite it's clearly artistic side. Even larger hands will have no trouble gripping this dagger. The brass fittings are well made and well done, and look and feel robust enough to withstand rough and tumble.
The blade itself is thick, and double edged. Blunt for safety, the point still was quite pronounced, so I had to file it down to a more rounded finish for safer practice. The steel is solid but I am unsure what type it is. A quick search in the net revealed that it might be EN45 Carbon Steel, which is quite swell as the blade feels solid and withstands blows effectively. The only downside to it is that the engraving, while beautiful looking, is a bit shallow and needed some darkening to really show off but that's not really much of an issue.
The sheath may be the simplest part, made of leather, but it is well made, thick and holds the dagger securely in place, and it is easy to slip in and out from. Integrated belt loop is always a plus.
Overall, this rondel dagger is one of the best bang for buck items for reenactment, training or just showing off you can find, with an unique style and finish that certainly will turn eyes. (Posted on 16/03/2023)
