The Sir William Marshal character is historically documented. Archbishop of Canterbury Stephen Langton called him the "greatest knight who ever lived." Accordingly, our Robin Hood Sir William Marshal surcoat in particolored sand and green makes even the greatest warrior look good. Its soft, brushed texture is very comfortable to the touch and it is lined for extra wearing comfort. The red lion on the chest is drawn imperfectly, the way it would have looked in the Middle Ages. This surcoat has leather lacing at the chest and is slit at the front and back for as much freedom of movement as possible.

Our Infantry Gambeson is made of 100 percent cotton and is quilted and padded, and has a high collar and side slits. The leather lacing with metal eyes at the right side starts at the waist and goes up the shoulder to the collar. You can use it to adjust our Infantry Gambeson to fit perfectly.

Three white lions on a red background (lions for courage, red for bravery in battle): Norman King Richard I, who ruled England from 1189 until 1199, introduced this coat of arms. Countless legends exist about the ruler known as Richard Lionheart, but forsooth: he was only in England for 10 months during his entire reign and might not even have been able to speak English.

In any case, he is one of the most dazzling figures of the Middle Ages and this splendid tabard would have suited him well.
