Bird Headed Thors Hammer Pendant
This Thor's Hammer pendant is based on an original that is thought to have been found in Scandinavia in the early 20th Century.
It probably dates from around the 10th Century and is unusual in having a raven or eagle head - the beak of which forms the bail.
The original was sold at auction in 2013 and is now in a private collection.
This pewter pendant is cast and hand finished by Asgard in Scotland and comes with a length of black waxed cord. It's presented on a pendant card with a description on the back. Our pewter is lead, nickel and cadmium free.

Jorvik Thor's Hammer Pendant
The Jorvik Thor's Hammer is a modern take on the classic hammer of the Viking period. The shaft is detailed with a design from a carved cross from the Isle of Man and depicts a Jelling style dragon. The design on the head of the hammer is taken from a bone trial piece found in the Coppergate excavations, York. It shows a typical style knotwork from the Viking period. It is interesting to note that the original carving from York was incomplete and we have finished it off for this new design.

'Hammer Is' Danish Thor's Hammer
This small hammer dates from the 10th century and was found on the Danish island of Lolland. It is the only one to be found with a runic inscription, which says 'Hammer Is' (HAMAR + IS). The spelling is interesting, as a letter A is missing, and the S is reversed- presumably by the jeweller to make the design more symmetrical, or that their spelling was not very good.
The inscription is also upside down when the hammer is suspended, so the inscription is presumably meant to be read when it is held with the head upwards.
The design on the front has been interpreted from the original and appears to show a bird-like face in the Borre style.

Viking Repton Hammer Pendant
The Repton Hammer, so called because it was found at Repton, was found buried with its owner. Archaeologists think that the owner was probably part of the Great Heathen army who camped there over the winter of 874, having already conquered Northumbria and Mercia. It was found hung around its owner's neck, complete with two glass beads. The beads adorning this hammer are a modern take on the original find.
This pewter piece has been cast and hand finished by Asgard in Scotland and comes with a length of waxed cord and two glass beads.
