Viking Axes

Battle Axes were one of the most fearsome weapons used by the Viking and Anglo-Saxons alike. The shape of the axe head differed according to its purpose. Broad headed 2 handed axes that appeared towards the end of the period were specialised weapons that were almost a distinguishing mark of the Anglo-Danish Huscarls at the Battle of Hastings. Beaded Axes are sometimes identified as being specifically Nordic in origin. We offer a great rage of Viking Axes. From the broad bladed battle axes to the francisca style throwing axes we are sure to have an axe that suits your needs. We even stock axe heads with 3mm edges that are suitable for re-enactment.

  • Robert the Bruce Axe

    3 Review(s)

Our Robert the Bruce Axe is a replica of the one that is held by his statue at the Bannockburn Battlefield site. This was the axe that was used to slay the English Knight Henry de Bohun before the battle, the blow being so hard that it split his helmet and head in 2! The King’s only regret was that he had broken the shaft of his favourite axe!

It features a long stained hardwood shaft and hand forged axe head. The head of this axe is blunt and it is designed for display only.
