Perhaps the most commonly asked question about our range of British Military Swords, British Cavalry Swords & British Navy Swords is “How are you able to sell them so cheaply?” Many of the long established British manufacturers sell the equivalent swords for up to 4 times the price of ours, so how are we able to keep our prices so low?

Our range of swords including our British Military Swords, British Cavalry Swords & British Navy Swords are made in India. India have a long tradition of making swords for the British Military. During the Indian Mutiny, some British Officers noticed that their swords were of inferior quality to the ones made by Indian smiths and had their swords refitted with Indian made blades. All of the blades on our British Military Swords are hand forged using similar techniques to those used on their historical counterparts.

As swords are rarely used in military parades these days, demand has dwindled and prices have soared. The specialist companies that are still making swords for the British Military, usually source the parts from India and assemble them in the UK. Our range of swords is made by skilled craftsmen in India, resulting in a much lower product cost than having them assembled in the UK.

Our swords are faithful replicas of originals. The fit and finish is not quite to the same standard of the domestically manufactured equivalents, but this is only apparent to the trained eye. As such they represent excellent value for money. Many of these swords are gifted from father to son/daughter upon graduation from officer training or are given as gifts to retiring military personnel.

We are proud members of the Defence Discount Service. Serving military personnel and veterans who are signed up to the Defence Discount Service scheme will receive a discount on selected products.

  • British Officer’s Horse Head Sword - 18th Century

The British Infantry Officer did not carry a regulation infanty sword until 1786. Before this officers were responsible for choosing their own swords. Whilst swords with Lion Head pommels were a popular choice, a little rarer were those with horse head pommels, perhaps alluding to the White Horse of Hannover of the Georgian monarchs.

Our British Officer’s Horse Head Sword features and a tempered AISI 1065 high carbon steel blade with etched decoration. The ornate brass hilt features a wood grip that is wrapped with brass wire. The scabbard is made from brass and features two fixed hanging rings.

  • British General 1831 Mameluke Saber

At first glance, this sword may appear to be a Mameluke saber, but a closer look at the blade bears the etched markings of the crown of the British Empire. This British adoption of an Eastern design is a reflection of Britain’s worldly Empire, its spoils after the defeat of Napoleon. When Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington became Commander in Chief in 1827, he would be seen carrying a Mameluke sword gifted to him by an Indian Potentate. No doubt influenced by him, by 1831 the Mameluke-hilted saber would become the regulation sword for officers of Major-General and above.

This reproduction of this unique sword of the British Empire bears the crossed Marshal’s baton and sword etched into the blade of unsharpened, tempered high carbon steel. The crossguard and brass accents of the hilt are brass and the grip is faux ivory. The scabbard is of brass with two suspension rings. A leather washer at the base of the blade protects the crossguard from colliding into the brass throat of the scabbard.

  • British Royal Artillery Gunner's Sword

    1 Review(s)

This replica of the British Royal Artillery Gunners Sword has a blade forged from 1055 high carbon steel; replicated at the base of the spine are the manufacturer's markings as seen on an original example (DAWES BIRMM – William and Samuel Dawes of Birmingham). The hilt is crafted from brass and the wooden grip is bound in black leather. The sword is paired with a leather scabbard complete with a brass chape and locket.

This British Royal Artillery Sword was the sidearm of British Artillery crews in the early 1800s and these swords saw action in the Peninsular War, Waterloo, and the War of 1812. Unique for its wide and straight-bladed design, the sword was likely inspired by the French Imperial Guard Infantry Sword. The United States would borrow heavily from the design of this British sword when creating their own US Light Artilleryman's Saber during the War of 1812 which essentially was a marginally modified hilt design coupled with a curved saber blade.

    Overall: 78cm
    Blade Length: 64cm

Blade Steel: 1055 High Carbon Steel

  • British 1895 Bugler/Drummer Small Sword

Regiment musicians in the Victorian British Army and the volunteer regiments carried their own short sword as a defensive sidearm. Though these are typically referred to as a sword, these Bugler’s Swords have a size and length that is more like a large dirk or a smaller short sword in size. There were several variants in the 19th century and these followed a Neo-Gothic styling complete with the cypher of the reigning monarch at the guard.

This replica has a blade of 1055 high carbon steel which is solidly mounted and peened into a hilt of finely cast brass. It is paired with a thick leather sheath which is completed with brass fittings.

    Overall: 46.7cm
    Blade Length: 34cm

  • British Royal Navy Boarding Cutlass - 1804 Pattern

    2 Review(s)

This pattern of sword was introduced during the Napoleonic Wars and saw service at the famous Battle of Trafalgar. Previous cutlasses shared a similar figure 8 hilt design but featured horn or leather grips that deteriorated quickly when exposed to seawater and changes in temperature.

The introduction of an iron grip greatly extended the serviceable life of this sword. The hilts were traditionally painted or japanned to stop them from rusting. The blade has been forged from AISI 1065 High Carbon Steel and has been well-tempered. It is housed in a black hardened buff leather scabbard.

    Total length: 89 cm
    Blade length: 74.5 cm
    Grip length:  12 cm
    Weight: 1.458 kg
