Our vast Japanese Sword collection features traditional, hand-forged carbon steel blades and intricately decorated hilts made for maximum grip. We offer functional, battle ready Katana's with cutting blade for sale made to the highest quality, perfect for both amateur and professional martial artists. The Wakizashi is most often worn in conjunction with a Katana, which would demonstrate that the wearer was of the Samurai class. All of our Wakizashi swords for sale are made with traditional Japanese forging techniques. At The Knight Shop, we stock for all abilities and needs including the Iaito, an imitation Katana used for practicing the Japanese martial art of Iaido. As such, Iaito’s are intended as practice weapons in the learning process allowing students to practice with a blunt blade.

The Nanbochuko period in Japanese history (the latter part of the 14th. century) encompassed sixty years of internal conflict in Japan, which spawned a demand for more and bigger sword blades than ever produced previously. Blades became longer and wider, sometimes to extremes (the Odachi had its genesis in this period). Named for this period, the Nanbokucho Katana is impressively sized. With a blade length of 30”, a long kissaki and a weight of just under 3 lbs. it is designed for heavy targets. It is, however, surprisingly agile and nimble enough to master double cuts.

Raptor Katana - Unokubi Zukuri

The Raptor Katana Unokubi-Zukuri (Cormorant's Neck) blade design (also called Nagamaki Naoshi) is patterned after the shape of the Nagamaki, the powerful long-handled sword popular between the 12th and 14th centuries. Notable for the strongly relieved shinogi-ji and diamond-shaped kissaki, the Unokubi-Zukuri Katana provides excellent balance in a strong cutting blade.

Practical Iaito - 27"

Our Practical Katanas have always been at the forefront of providing economical yet functional swords to the martial arts community. These Practical Iaito combine the blade geometries and profiles of Performance Series Iaito with the affordability of our Practical fittings. The removable handle is tightly wrapped in the traditional style with imitation leather to provide a positive grip that will withstand years of kata practice. Please note: The main focus of the Practical Range is the blade. The fittings, although well made, do not have the same attention to detail found on more expensive lines. The Ito (handle wrap) may have a different number and proximity of diamonds to those shown in the picture.
