  • Fencing Side Sword - Blunt

Designed for safe use in fencing practice, the Renaissance Side Sword provides a realistic fencing simulator to the renaissance period HEMA practitioner. Unique in the time of the primarily piercing oriented rapiers, the side sword kept the cut and thrust aspects of the late medieval arming swords and added the protection of a complex hilt hand guard.

This side sword features thick well-rounded edges and a rolled tip for greater thrusting safety. However, with all fencing swords, we suggest affixing a rubber tip blunt or piece of leather strip taped to the tip. This updated sword design provides a stiffer blade, a more robust hand guard and long lasting cord wrapped grip.

  • Iga Ninja Sword

The neighbouring Kouga and Iga clans of feudal Japan were bitter enemies for centuries and their warring Ninja families have been immortalized in Japanese literature. To commemorate these secretive warriors we have introduced our Kouga and Iga Ninja-To.

The dismountable double-pegged Tsuka of the Iga Ninja-To features a traditional wrap over natural rayskin and Clouds and Sun/Water and Moon Menuki. The blackened iron fittings include a Tsuba displaying the Iga Mon and a wave motif, both repeated on the Fuchi/Kashira. The Saya features a partial rattan wrap and a heavily reinforced spike. The Iga features a forged high carbon blade, differentially quenched to an edge hardness of 60HRc. An essential tool for the Ninjutsu practitioner.

  • Bushido Katana

    1 Review(s)

Bushido, or “Way of the Warrior”, defines the code of conduct an honourable Samurai must follow and the Hanwei Bushido katana is designed to perpetuate this tradition.

The blade of the Bushido katana is hand-forged and folded from K120C powder steel, with a medium-length (chu) kissaki. The saya is deeply lacquered with inlaid brass cherry blossom (sakura) flowers. High-quality ray skin (same) is used on the tsuka. The tsuba is crafted in blackened and bronzed iron, with detailing in gold and silver and a battle scene decoration. The tsuka-ito and the sageo are woven from premium Japanese cotton. The fuchi and kashira are of blackened bronze with brass detailing, and the kojiri, koiguchi and kurikata are of polished buffalo horn. The habaki is a one-piece brass construction.

Please note: Our range of katana, wakizashi and tantō are all made by hand and will feature the minor imperfections relating to this method of manufacture. This process ensures each piece is as unique as their historical counterparts.

  • Koi Katana

The Koi Katana from Paul Chen has a hand-forged T10 high-carbon steel blade. The blade on this katana is differentially hardened using the traditional claying method. The Koi Katana is mounted in black and white and features black same, the tsuka-ito is made of premium white Japanese cotton. The saya is finished in a deep black lacquer with a black and white striped cotton sageo. A finely rendered Koi, with true front-and-back detail, forms the black iron tsuba. • Raptor Katana - Unokubi Zukuri

    1 Review(s)

The Raptor Katana Unokubi-Zukuri (Cormorant's Neck) blade design (also called Nagamaki Naoshi) is patterned after the shape of the Nagamaki, the powerful long-handled sword popular between the 12th and 14th centuries. Notable for the strongly relieved shinogi-ji and diamond-shaped kissaki, the Unokubi-Zukuri Katana provides excellent balance in a strong cutting blade.

  • Raptor Katana - Nambokucho Zukuri

    1 Review(s)

The Nanbochuko period in Japanese history (the latter part of the 14th. century) encompassed sixty years of internal conflict in Japan, which spawned a demand for more and bigger sword blades than ever produced previously. Blades became longer and wider, sometimes to extremes (the Odachi had its genesis in this period). Named for this period, the Nanbokucho Katana is impressively sized. With a blade length of 30”, a long kissaki and a weight of just under 3 lbs. it is designed for heavy targets. It is, however, surprisingly agile and nimble enough to master double cuts.

Please note: Our range of katana, wakizashi and tantō are all made by hand and will feature the minor imperfections relating to this method of manufacture. This process ensures each piece is as unique as their historical counterparts.

    Total Length: 113cm

  • Bamboo Mat Katana

    2 Review(s)

Our Bamboo Mat Katana features a chu-kissaki blade of Hanwei's own high-alloy HWS-2S steel, which combines impressive performance with a striking O-choji hamon. This steel is made in Hanwei's new factory, with high-tech equipment, producing a very pure, advanced-metallurgy blade with excellent edge-holding capability and resilience.

The fittings on the katana feature a bamboo-themed black iron tsuba, textured in a bamboo mat design with a jointed bamboo rim and highlighted with gold-tipped bamboo leaves. The fuchi/kashira follow the same theme and the golden menuki feature a pair of sparrows. The saya is finished in high-gloss lacquer with horn fittings.

Please note: Our range of katana, wakizashi and tantō are all made by hand and will feature the minor imperfections relating to this method of manufacture. This process ensures each piece is as unique as their historical counterparts.
