Windlass

The Knight Shop is a distributor for Windlass Steelcrafts and the premier retailer of Windlass Swords for sale in the UK.

Windlass Swords (Windlass Steelcrafts), are based in India and are one of the oldest sword manufacturers still in production.  They were established in 1943 to supply kukris to the British Army.

Over the decades they have expanded to become one of the largest suppliers of military swords in the world. They are also well known for making high quality licensed replicas of swords, armour and historical clothing seen in Hollywood movies.

Their swords are forged from high quality, high carbon steel and tempered with the most advanced heat treating process available. They are flexible, well balanced and lightweight making them ideal for practicing historical swordplay techniques.

Windlass Swords are durable and are either of threaded or peened construction with the tang forged as part of the blade. They are blunt and have a 1mm edge although sharpening service is available on these swords.

  • Alamo Bowie Knife

Between 1835 and 1836, Texans fought for their independence from Mexico. The most famous battle of the war centred around The Alamo, which was a missionary station that had been turned into a fort.

This knife is the exciting replica of a Bowie knife exhibited in the Alamo museum. Its blade has a number of unusual features: it curves to an extreme point and a plate of shining brass encases the back. In matching brass, the ends of the crossguard curve gracefully in opposite directions. The genuine wooden grip is straight at the side of the back but on the side of the sharp edge, it is slightly wavy for an improved grip. Our Alamo Bowie knife comes with a matching sheath in brown leather.

  • 1849 Rifleman's Knife

This rare blade was originally issued in extremely limited numbers and has the distinction of being the first knife officially designed for, and purchased by, the U.S. Army back in 1849. The blade takes inspiration from an antique in the private collection of our company President Lynn C Thompson, and while the blade is not an exact replica, it features many of the design nuances that make this knife such a classic! It’s big, stout spear point blade is stiff enough to oppose even much larger weapons, making it an ideal complimentary knife to carry and use alongside a saber or cutlass. Plus, it's 12” blade and solid guard make a more than capable stand-alone blade in its own right! It’s easy to see why it was chosen as a back-up blade for riflemen. The 1849 Rifleman’s Knife is hand-forged from 1085 High Carbon steel, with a solid brass guard and beautiful Rosewood handle scales that encapsulate the sturdy full tang. The Rifleman’s Knife is sold complete with a high-quality hand-stitched leather sheath and belt frog, with polished brass throat and chape.
