  • Confederate Sabre

    2 Review(s)

Our Confederate saber would have been primarily used by soldiers riding for famous generals like Jeb Stuart, Wade Hampton and Nathan Bedford Forrest. They taught the Yankees the meaning of fear. This Confederate saber is lightweight (approx. 1 kg) and manageable. The back is relatively broad up to the center of percussion (CoP), which makes the blade extremely stable. And the fuller, which also stops at the CoP, is responsible for the reduced weight and resulting manageability.

The blade curves more acutely as it nears the point, which magnifies the saber's cutting power. An accurate reproduction of a historical weapon (s. William Albaugh, "Confederate Edged Weapons", p. 137), the hand guard, the pommel, and even the wire wrapped around the brown leather that covers the grip are made of brass.

  • US Navy Cutlass M1860

    1 Review(s)

Starting in 1860, US Navy M1860 cutlasses were manufactured for the US Navy in Chicopee, MA. They continued to be used after the Civil War broke out. Our replica has the marks you would expect to see on an original: "USN DR 1862" and "AMESMFGCO CHICOPEE MASS" to show that the cutlass is military issue and who manufactured it.

Heavily influenced by the sabre used by the French navy, our US Navy Cutlass M1860 is a replica of the model that replaced the M1841. The slightly curved blade has a wide fuller that ends in the area of the point where the broad backstops and the false edge begins. The blade geometry of the M1860 makes it extraordinarily light. Held in place by a riveted pommel and the full knuckle bow at the hand guard, the wooden grip of this naval cutlass is covered in leather and wrapped with twisted, golden wire. It includes a leather scabbard with a frog for holding the scabbard.

    Total length: 80 cm
    Blade length: 65.5 cm
    Grip length: 11 cm
    Weight: 0.86 kg
    Blade thickness (base): 4.3 mm

    Edge: Blunt
    Pommel: Peened
    Scabbard: Leather, Wood, Brass
