  • Knightly Sword

The Knightly Sword is the perfect accompaniment for any costume, whether it be for film, theatre or fancy dress. The non-sharp steel blade is polished and lightly oiled for protection. The guard and pommel are crafted from steel and are separated by a leather covered wood grip. The well-made scabbard is hand crafted from wood and leather.

Although this sword is constructed from high carbon steel and has a full tang, we would not recommend it for use as the blade has not been heat-treated.

  • River Witham Sword

Paul Chen swords are crafted in much the same way as swords were made centuries ago, except now the blades are forged from high-carbon spring steel. The blade finish is far from being polished agian more closley replicating what the medieval swordsmith was able to achieve. Except as noted the grips are leather covered hardwood. Fittings are either steel or solid brass. These swords will appeal to the re-enactor who wants a sword with the same appearance as the originals.

The River Witham Sword was dredged from the River Witham near the town of Lincoln during work carried out in 1788. The sword may be a remnant of the Battle of Lincoln in 1141, but it is more likely that it was made between 1250-1300 CE. The inscription on the blade reads: +NDXOXCHMDRCHDXORVI+.

  • Sir William Marshal Sword - Forged

    1 Review(s)

The single-hand Marshall Sword by Paul Chen epitomizes quality and authenticity in broadsword construction. The sword is based on an original, now in a British museum, used by one of England’s finest knights, Sir William Marshall, who served the crown faithfully under Henry II, Richard the Lionheart and Jack Lackland.

The Hanwei SH2000 version features a forged high-carbon steel blade with excellent handling characteristics. Tempered to a tough HRC 54, the blade section features a central ridged fuller and full-length distal taper - a tough test for the bladesmith but resulting in a superb combination of speed and strength. The grip is leather wrapped and laced and the guard and pommel are elegant in their functional simplicity. The scabbard is leather-covered with steel mounts.

See models SH2001 for the forged-folded version and SH2046 for the “Practical” version of the Marshall sword.
