  • Danish Hand Axe

In the ranks of the Huscarls, the bodyguard of Scandinavian nobles and kings, axes of various sizes were a very popular weapon. The Huscarls often used the Danish axe with their left hand to attack the side of the enemy not protected by a shield. Pictures of the Danish axe can be found, for example, on the Bayeux Tapestry and date to the second half of the 11th century.

Smaller beard axes such as this Danish hand axe had evolved from Francisca and served the Huscarls primarily as devastating throwing axes, but were also used in close combat. A distinctive feature is the relatively long blade cutting, which tapers sharply towards the shaft. The blade encloses the shaft made of wood and is riveted to it. The shaft is largely straight but is widened at the lower end towards the blade, which improves the handling discreetly.

  • Masonic Sword - Silver - Deep Engraving

Throughout history, as an instrument of justice, truth, equality, and firmness, swords have been used at every great event and have become imbued with great symbolism. For this reason, freemasons use swords in all their ceremonies.

FREEMASONRY: “a philanthropic, institution intended to achieve an understanding of truth, the study of ethics and the practice of solidarity, working for the material and moral improvement of humanity, it is compatible with any religious or esoteric faith which does not annul the freedom of individuals”. Starting from the tradition of builders harking back to the “medieval masons and architects” freemasonry pursues the personal self-construction of the individual.

This unique MASONIC SWORD contains a great many of the symbols used in the craft, particularly the compass and set square, the plumb line and the hammer, the sacred book and the eye of the Supreme Being, and the five-pointed star inscribed in the capital “G” of the Great.

  • Red Calatrava Cross Shield

Exquisitely handcrafted in stainless steel with a polished finish. At the shields heart is a red Cross. The emblem of the order of the Calatrava. The Order of Calatrava was one of the four Spanish military orders and the first military order founded in Castile, but the second to receive papal approval. The papal bull confirming the Order of Calatrava as a Militia was given by Pope Alexander III on September 26, 1164. It was said that even when outnumbered more than ten to one, the Knights of the Calatrava were still victorious. The Calatrava Cross had truly protected them. It is believed that he who harnessed the power of the Four Triads represented by the Calatrava Cross would find success in all areas of life.

The triangular shield, known as a kite shield, is double reinforced steel with triple reinforced corners. Beautifully embellished detailing of riveted Golden fittings frame a natural steel finish and adds to the stunning contrast which makes this shield so stunning.

  • British Light Cavalry Sabre - 1796 Pattern

    4 Review(s)

Designed by Major-General John Gaspard Le Marchant, the 1796 pattern light cavalry saber was based on Central and Eastern European hussar swords. As a young captain, he observed the clumsy design of the heavy, overly long 1788 Pattern swords. He gave the blade of this saber a pronounced curve, which made it more adept at cavalry attack methods, and designed it with a widened tip that affected the balance, but made slashes far more brutal. It was issued primarily to British light dragoons and hussars and was also used by the King's German Legion light cavalry during the Napoleonic Wars. The blade profile became so popular that the Prussians and other German states emulated its design throughout the 19th century.

This exact replica of an original antique blade features an extreme distal taper, enabling it to feel exceptionally lively. The blade is hand forged from tough 1080 high carbon steel and spring tempered and arrives fully sharpened.

The hilt replicates the originals, with a knuckle guard, steel spine, and contoured, ribbed leather grip. Complete with accurately reproduced steel scabbard.

  • British Light Cavalry Sabre - 1796 Pattern

    3 Review(s)

Famed for its use by Britain’s Light Dragoons and Hussars during the Peninsular War and Waterloo, this sword was also supplied to the Prussian Cavalry in great numbers and even found favour in the USA. This design was suggested for British service by cavalry officer John Gaspard Le Marchant, who believed cavalry swords should be light and have a curved, slashing blade. The long curved blade has been forged from AISI 1065 High Carbon Steel and has been well tempered.

  • Crusader Great Helm - 16 gauge - Brass

The Great Helm, which began to be seen on the battlefield as early as the 13th century on its earliest forms proved to be a winning design to be used almost for the next three centuries. It was most commonly worn over a chainmail coif or skull cap. It was usually built with 4 riveted pieces with flat top. It has a fierce-looking fixed visor that enhanced the already intimidating look of a charging knight.

Our Crusader Great Helm was inspired by an original piece dated from the middle 13th century found in Pomerania that is now on display in the Historisches Museum of Berlin. This style of helmet was usually seen in the middle 13th century until the beginning of 14th century and can be seen in documents such as the Codex Manesse, the Maziejowsky Bible or the Cantigas.

Our Crusader Great Helm is constructed from 16 gauge steel making it perfect for re-enactment. It features a padded liner and adjustable leather chin strap.

    Inner circumference: 64cm

  • Bronze Jorvik Hammer Pendant

The Jorvik Thor's Hammer is a modern take on the classic hammer of the Viking period. The shaft is detailed with a design from a carved cross from the Isle of Man and depicts a Jelling style dragon. The design on the head of the hammer is taken from a bone trial piece found in the Coppergate excavations, York. It shows a typical style knotwork from the Viking period. It is interesting to note that the original carving from York was incomplete and we have finished off for this new design. The piece is made of bronze and measures 50mm in length. It comes ready to wear with a length of black leather thong.
