There is also an ECO-leather pocket at the front of this plastron to insert additional protective foam to improve protection.

This plastron is fastened at the back with 4 buckles on adjustable belts.

Our SPES Body Armour Plastron - Level 2 is part of a set including our HEMA Padded Skirt Level 2. The plastron is particularly recommended for long sword duels when the torso is exposed for very strong hits.

Its name derives from Old-Italian word piastrone, meaning breastplate. The plastron is a front part of a cuirass, protecting the torso of a user. In ancient times a cuirass was made of materials like hardened leather. Greeks, but later also Romans, cast cuirasses with the image of musculature. In the Middle Ages, such chest protectors were worn on chain armour or as part of plate armour.
