Our Red Dragon swords feature high carbon EN42J Spring Steel blades that have been forged and tempered to perform like their historical counterparts. They have a core hardness of 45HRC approx. with an edge hardness of 50HRC approx. The hilts feature authentically styled forged guards and pommels constructed from steel, and wooden grips that are masterfully wrapped in leather cord for an aesthetic yet comfortable finish. They come complete with leather wrapped wooden scabbards and authentically styled integrated leather belts.
Our Red Dragon Combat “Hand and a Half Sword” is designed to replicate a 13th century longsword. The broad blade is designed for slashing and the long point of balance gives this sword a lot of cutting power. The 2mm edge makes this sword useable for HEMA (drilling not sparring) and stage combat. These thick edges make the sword heavier in the hand, but provider a much higher level of durability and safety than 1mm edged blades. The rounded tip adds further safety.

I feel like the balance, sitting at 15cm from the guard, could be improved slightly by making the tip narrower, it's tip is 20mm wide, if this was shaved down to 10-15mm tapering from the last 15cm of blade where it goes from 30mm this might improve it slightly, there is also no perceptible distal taper, which is something I can fix with enough elbow grease, but would also improve the handling.
The fuller is blended nicely into the tip and runs into the guard, fit is fantastic for the price, the leather wrapped handle is brilliant.
There was a little surface rust forming on the blade when I received it as the box was damaged with a little water damage and was delivered to my neighbour instead, but that was the only issue with shipping.
The scabbard is fantastic and my only quip is that the belt tips should probably be cut to a diagonal point to ease in threading it through the "loop" to secure it.
Overall, great value for money IMHO
Sword plus shipping to Australia cost me £190.89 + £10 after there was an issue with shipping (£200.89 total) hence the 4/5 on price, for a total of around AUD$385.75, the system originally quoted me an extra £66 shipping which would have brought the purchase to nearly AUD$500. My biggest issue with the sword is that the pommel need to be bigger to off set the high point of balance. Otherwise the sword handles fairly well in two hands considering. One handed it does feel heavy on the recovery.
I've been doing Re-enactments for 13 years and this for the money is a great beginners sword.
